About Us

The European BakeShop was opened in October 2003 and is owned by John & Evelyne O'Connor.

Having been raised with his siblings just a few miles out in the country, John is no foreigner to the small town of Hartford, KS.

Evelyne, the head French pastry chef first came to the United States in 1983. Baking French delicacies has been an enjoyable past-time for her since adolescence. As for work experience, Evelyne was the pastry chef at Simply Elegant Catering in Wichita, was the head of the bakery/pastries department at the Topeka Country Club and worked as a "chocolatiere" in a pastry shop in Luxembourg.

Here are our delicious Almond Croissants!

They are previously simple, flakey, buttery French croissants turned extravagant and infused with flavor!

Split in half, they are filled and topped with a homemade almond filling which yields a slight chewiness after baked in the oven. For the final touch, they are lightly dusted with powdered sugar... and voila!
